OntoScope is a new graphical ontology viewer. OntoScope represents ontologies as an unrooted, directed graph to allow the user to explore the ontology along any relation type, independent of the class hierarchy. By default the ontologies are loaded from the OBA service (ontology based answers) of the bioinformatics group. In addition custom ontologies can be loaded with the help of an embedded OBA server. OntoScope is able to load ontologies in OWL or OBO format.
The visualization and functionality of OntoScope can be enhanced by plugins. This is already done for the Cytomer ontology on anatomical structures in adult human and human embryo as well as for the Tribolium Ontology (TrOn).
